Recognizing the need for a local community space, Christopher Nikolai and Allan VanderVelden opened Club 1226 in May 2005. Despite noise complaints, near-constant repairs, and threats of eviction and condemnation from the City of Appleton, Club 1226 lasted until January 2010.
