In 1976, the GPU Gay Guide listed Conway's (2125 W. Wells St.) as a reliable pick-up spot, stating "they're gay -- they just don't know it yet." While that future didn't exactly come true, it seems Conway's was popular with gay Marquette students throughout the 1970s. When the bar closed in 2024, it was the end of an era in Marquette nightlife.
