The Cove (aka Mickey's Cove) was the first in a long series of gay and lesbian bars at 157 S. 1st St. over the next decade. Milwaukee's gay village was taking shape at 2nd and Pittsburgh, and The Cove became an early connector between the Fifth and Third Wards.
