After Sam Mazur's death, his "widow" Michelle inherited only a bar license, while his brother inherited the building. The long-running Phoenix, licensed in Sam's name, closed in March 1993. Nearly six months later, Michelle finally secured a bar license in her name and reopened as Deja Vu on August 27, 1993. The new concept -- which relied heavily on drink specials -- wasn't a hit, and Michelle had burnt too many bridges with former customers. Deja Vu closed in May 1994 and Michelle left town. Since then, multiple residents of 235 S. 2nd St have claimed to see Sam's ghost on the property.
