Sharon Dixon opened Fannies, a popular Milwaukee lesbian bar, in 1982. Fannies was known for its outdoor patio, theme parties, extensive community fundraising, and tight-knit community of customers. Owner Sharon Dixon was a fierce protector of her patrons and employees, earning the reputation as a "female Clint Eastwood" after defending the bar from a violent invasion. After a series of unfortunate events, the bar closed in 2000 but reopened briefly in 2002 for a 20th Anniversary Party. Later known as Studio 200, the Fannies building was razed on September 16, 2024.
