The Flame opened in fall 1973 in a space formerly occupied by Carrie's and The Rooster. Unfortunately, the bar's lifespan was short, as the building was ravaged by the Easter Sunday Inferno of 1974 and the business was forced to close. Six years later, Art Guenther opened Just Art's Saloon in the salvaged saloon.
