The Gallery Lounge was a short-lived, but important Milwaukee gay bar. After the Easter Sunday Inferno, new bars began to open in the 200 block of S. 2nd St. Gallery Lounge was the first of five queer spaces to operate at 219 S. 1st St. across five decades. Advertised in September 1974, Gallery Lounge featured a bar, lounge, and game room, with minimal furnishings and understated decor. It's unclear who owned and operated the bar. By late 1975, the space had already reopened as Mister Z's, followed by Gary's, Club Circus, and eventually Club 219.
