Gary's Dance Club, a Milwaukee warehouse disco, opened in June 1975 promising to be a "bizarre place to boogie." It might have challenged The Factory's success, if it had its licenses in order. In August 1975, the City of Milwaukee revoked its liquor license after discovering that the sole owner was James O'Connor of the River Queen. Due to his felony record, O'Connor was legally ineligible to hold a license. Gary's was forced to close, but the location quickly reopened as Mister Z's in December 1975.
