Hybrid Lounge opened in March 2010 with an all-inclusive, aspirational concept: it would be neither a gay bar nor a straight bar, but both. Co-owned by Nate Fried and Bill Lison, it became an important anchor for the Brady Street neighborhood. It was one of the city's first non-smoking bars, months before the statewide ban. Hybrid hosted a variety of events, including karaoke, trivia, sports, drag shows, DJs, and live music, and later served brunches and bar food. After seven years, Hybrid's landlord abruptly chose not to renew its lease, and the bar closed permanently in February 2017.
