Jocks was the last known gay bar to operate in the historic Cross Keys Hotel (400 N. Water St.,) following the Crystal Palace, River Queen, Side Door and S.S. River Queen. Jocks used the "side door" address at 212 E. St. Paul Ave. It is unknown who owned or operated Jocks. When a fire ravaged the building on November 28, 1979, Jocks was already closed. The Cross Keys, built in 1853, was razed in May 1980. The land remained vacant until 2005, when the Milwaukee Public Market opened here. We welcome any available information about this location.
