Kirby Sheldon opened Kirby's Klub -- "A Place to Be You" and a gay-owned dancebar -- In October 1997. It was the third in a series of five queer spaces to operate at 121 W. Main Street between 1996 and 2003. Despite a thriving Capitol Square bar scene, Kirby's Klub only survived two years. The space became Millennium in July 1999.
