Kisses was a defiant mixture of gay, Black and Brown that opened at 9am daily. The two-tier club offered a throbbing New York dancefloor upstairs, and a dark, intimate cocktail lounge downstairs. The disco opened in June 1976 as "Hugs & Kisses," a members-only space, but abandoned the membership cards (and the hugs) in May 1978. Kisses advertised as "Milwaukee's Swingiest Disco," alluding to its polyamorous and pansexual vibes. Purchased by L&M Productions, a Black-owned collective, Kisses became Rapport in November 1978 and Factory 2 in December 1982.
