The Knight Owl was a short-lived gay-friendly restaurant that advertised in gay media from October 1971 to January 1972. Owned by "Tom & Ron," the restaurant was open after hours and collaborated with Castaways South on events like "Food and Flick" movie and buffet nights. In July 1972, the space was occupied by The Seaway Restaurant after its eviction from downtown. The building survived for decades as a storage space for Art Guenther of Just Art's Saloon. After a long battle with the City of Milwaukee, Art lost the historic building, which was condemned and razed in 2024.
