La Cage, one of Wisconsin's longest-operating LGBTQ landmarks, has dominated the dancebar scene for decades. Known for being the first gay bar with open windows, La Cage is a space of constant innovation and reinvention. The bar underwent frequent remodels, adding new concepts like Jazz, Dance Dance Dance, Grubb's Pub, and the Jackie Roberts Show Lounge. Owners George Prentice and Corey Grubb retired in 2005, only to return in 2017 to rescue the business. Current operator Dave Wolz purchased La Cage in June 2022. After celebrating its 40th anniversary, La Cage continues to go big and go strong.
