The Lib Bookstore was a gay-friendly adult bookstore that operated from 1971 to 1986 in a space that had previously housed the Loop Cafe. Located across the street from the Royal Hotel, the bookstore was known for gay pornography, cruising, and hustling. The Lib was advertised far and wide in the gay media of its time. As the last holdout of the Fifth Street vice district, the Lib was demolished in fall 1986 for a Marc Plaza parking structure that wasn't build for nearly 15 years.
