The M&M Club, a beloved Milwaukee LGBTQ landmark, operated from July 4, 1976, to May 13, 2006. Initially opened by Bob Schmidt, Jime Moes, and Leo Peters, it was a community cornerstone that transformed the Historic Third Ward. The bar featured daily specials, live entertainment, and the Glass Menagerie restaurant. The M&M Club was also one of the first gay bars in Milwaukee with open windows. In May 2006, Bob Schmidt sold the building to new owners, and the M&M Club closed after a week-long celebration of "Last Calls." The M&M legacy has continued at milestone reunions ever since.
