The MacArthur Park Disco Lounge held its grand opening on July 10, 1979. Named after a #1 Donna Summer song, the bar was praised for its popular tea dances. Despite a large initial advertising presence in local gay media and at the Gay Softball World Series in 1979, the disco lounge appears to have closed soon after opening. The space was vacant by April 1980.
