When Sini and Nebi Torbica opened Moct (the Serbian word for bridge) in summer 2004, the rebirth of the Fifth Ward was still years away. Seizing the opportunity to reinvent Milwaukee nightlife, the Torbicas created a multifunctional warehouse venue that attracted curious nightclubbers, diverse musicians and creative artists. For years, the venue hosted LGBTQ fundraisers, events, and fashion shows, including the annual PrideFest Milwaukee afterparty. After nine years, Moct was sold and closed in spring 2013.
