Wisconsin LGBTQ History Project Fundraiser
If you appreciate the History Project's work, we hope you'll support the second fundraiser in our 29-year history!
We are a self-funded, independent, all-volunteer, non-profit team -- and we provide most services FREE to the community.
Together, we will mourn. Together, we will resist. Together, we will build.
We are proud to support and sponsor the Transgendar Day of Remembrance Celebration Week of Action 2025, a historic series of events honoring the lives of Black trans women and femmes lost to violence and uplifting the resilience of trans and gender-nonconforming (GNC) communities. TRANCE Consulting and the Paris Tikka Mahon Memorial Transition Fund are co-producing this critical experience for Wisconsin.
Over the past four years, Milwaukee has lost six Black trans femmes: Brazil Johnson, Diedrick Cross, Mya Allen, Cashay Henderson, Chyna Long, and Amyri Dior. Their families and our community continue to demand justice, resources, and protection.
"There is an epidemic of violence in Milwaukee for the black trans community," said organizer Elle Halo. "The memories of our Flamekeeper Honorees fuel our mission to change the narrative about Black trans women."
"TDOR Celebration Week of Action is a tribute -- years in the making -- to honor the legacy of the trans community, uplift Wisconsin’s trans leaders, and celebrate our collective light and liberation. We demand a coordianted strategic response to anti-trans violence and anti-trans legislation."
The Week of Action will include:
Advance registration is recommended. All events are FREE for transgender and gender non-conforming attendees, but a rolling donation is suggested is suggested for cisgender and community allies.
The Paris Tikka Mahon Memorial Transition Fund, founded in memory of Paris Tikka Mahon, sustains the legacy of Black trans women who built programs like SHEBA, The Black Rose Initiative, and countless community victories. From winning Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming care to leading statewide HIV prevention and harm reduction efforts, these community-first agencies have demonstrated that Black trans leadership is visionary, resilient, transformative, and essential for change.
While this celebration centers Black trans lives, it is open to the entire community -- LGBTQ, QPOC, and true allies -- and a safe, affirming, and rewarding environment will be provided to all.
We thank all sponsors for stepping up to BE SEEN on Trans Day of Remembrance, including the Marsha P. Johnson Institute, Trans Justice Funding Project, SHEBA, Diverse & Resilient, Milwaukee Black Pride Correlation, Black Trans Advocacy Coalition, EmpowerHer, Black Transwomen, Inc., Sun-Seeker MKE Collective, Trans Liberation MKE, and the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center.
