Ed Grunewald opened Club 5 in fall 1998 as a more modern and spacious replacement for his former venue, Manouevres (151 S. Blair St.) Since Grunewald's passing in 2008, Five has become a nightlife powerhouse and community center under the leadership of owner Dave Eick. Over the years, Five has hosted several subspaces, including the Fox Hole (women's bar,) Barracks (leather/men's bar) and Planet Q Video Bar -- all under one roof.
