The “Fox River Lounge” became the new name for the bar formerly known as Sorry We're Closed. This occurred in 2003, under the same ownership: Paul "Cricket" Jacob. The new name reflected plans to operate pontoon boat tours on the adjacent Fox River. Bureaucratic delays prevented that project from coming to fruition before the bar was sold in 2005.
The Fox River Lounge had indoor and outdoor stages with regular live entertainment, including the GLAMARAMA gals, who wowed patrons with song, dance, theater, improv and interactive games. And the CD juke box (pre-dating internet juke boxes) was revered for having the largest and most varied selection of music imaginable, from the 1920’s to current. This was possible because the owner burned all of the CDs exclusively for this juke box. That meant not only could 20 songs fit on each CD, but the most popular songs from each artist could be featured without including less popular songs from a typical music CD.
Since closing, reunions for customers of Sorry We're Closed and Fox River Lounge have been held onsite, with the blessings of subsequent straight bar owners.
(The QLife newspaper from Dec 2004 to Nov 2005 caused some confusion when they incorrectly listed "Fox River Lounge" as being located at 405 W. Walnut St. in Green Bay, which was actually the address of a different LGBTQ bar; Za's.)
