Before housing Orbit, 739 S. 2nd St. was known as the Albermart Skylounge, a live music venue owned by Martin and Albert Jug. In February 1999, "Michael" and "Russell" took over the space and reopened as Orbit. The bar had an astronomical theme, decorated in glow-in-the-dark stars, planets, and comets, as well as a historic coin-operated pink elephant. Known for its trippy sci-fi murals, electronic dance music, and themed parties, Orbit was a popular destination before or after La Cage. After Michael failed to purchase the building, Orbit closed in August 2003.
