On July 3, 1997, the former Mad Hatter reopened as OZ under the ownership of "David and Kevin." OZ, later under the ownership of "Bill," served the Wausau community for nearly 28 years. A "Last Night in Oz" party on June 7, 2025 said goodbye to the old space, which transformed over the summer into The Emerald Night Club, opening on September 13, 2025.
