Little is known about the Park Hotel (formerly the Delaware Hotel,) although it was a well-known cruise bar next to the Milwaukee Road train station. Operated from 1962 to 1973 by former police officer Walter Stevens, the Park Hotel became a 14-room SRO residence in its final years. For decades, the hotel's circular Hiawatha Bar was a popular perch for cruising newcomers from every angle, according to George "Bunny" Opper, who called it "an early form of Grindr." The building was demolished in February 1974 to make way for the Blue Cross Blue Shield redevelopment.
