Players was a popular local hub for three full decades, but remained largely unknown outside La Crosse. The bar was very active in the community, hosting numerous parties, drag shows, and AIDS benefits. It also collaborated with other local bars for 'Pride Along the Mississippi' celebrations. Players operated at two different locations, on Main Street and later on 4th Street South, and was owned by a succession of partners from 1989 until closing in 2019.
