Players Pub, a gay sports bar, opened in August 1981 at 332 N. Milwaukee St. Despite a promising start as the city's "latest and greatest," it appears to have closed abruptly within four months. The building, which dates back to 1897, was originally the Sparacino family tavern, and later housed a series of other bars, including Milwaukee Inn, New Mike's Bar, Davey's, MJ's, and today's Smoke Shack. We welcome any available information about this location.
