After controversy forced Plan B to close, former owner Rico Sabatini reopened it as Prism on March 1, 2019 with partners Lili Luxe and Apollo Marquez. Despite efforts, Prism closed just eight months later on November 9, 2019. Sabatini noted that dating apps and increased inclusion in straight bars reduced the need for a dedicated LGBTQ space. However, other venue owners, including Dave Eick of FIVE Nightclub, argued that queer venues can thrive by actively reaching out to and celebrating diverse communities, including trans people and people of color -- a lesson Plan B never seemed to learn.
