Prologue East opened in August 1968 at the Shorecrest Hotel, launched by Richard Werle and Richard Leitgeb. Although obviously connected to the Prologue "South," it's unclear why a second location opened. Known for authentic Victorian ambiance, Prologue East featured 18th-century paintings, an elaborate wooden canopied cocktail bar, and a focus on personalized service. The high-end menu included Chateaubriand, Oysters Rockefeller, and Harriet King on piano. In early 1971, the IRS filed a tax lien, and the owners chose not to renew their lease. They held a final "Epilogue" party on February 26, 1971 before selling their assets at auction.
