Built in 1931 as a pumping station, PumpHouse opened on December 31, 2006. Owners Michael Murray and David Skwarek, inspired by Chicago's Sidetrack, aimed to create a video bar for Milwaukee. The venue featured two floors with pool tables, video games, two outdoor decks, and a semi-circle main floor bar. Oddly, it had no dance floor. The owners called the lounge "gay-friendly" and not specifically a gay bar. In December 2007, Murray and Skwarek sold to Riviera Maya, and PumpHouse became more Latin in flavor. Horny Goat Brewery bought the property in May 2009. The building was later demolished.

"Michael Murray and David Skwarek announced they were opening Pump House -- and it's not going to be another martini lounge, nor will it be a wine bar, sports bar or anything else that's been done to death in Milwaukee over the last few years. Inspired by Sidetrack in Chicago, they want to open a video bar." - Julie Lawrence, OnMilwaukee, September 28, 2006.
