After the Black Forest Inn closed, Roger Emerson (of the Beer Garden) opened the Rainbow Grille in October 1977. The grille focused on dining rather than drinking, advertising Sunday brunches, Saturday prime rib, and exhibitions by local artist Robert Uyvari. Despite high demand in a growing neighborhood, and a tight partnership with Your Place, the Rainbow Grille closed after just over a year. It was replaced by Moulin Rouge in April 1979.
