The Rainbow Revue opened in September 1991, succeeding Leaded Shade II at a location that had already hosted three gay bars. Managed by Wade Twamley, the bar celebrated its grand opening with a four-day event featuring drag shows, live entertainment, and the Mr. and Miss Rainbow contest. In addition to a full bar, it operated a restaurant with a Friday fish fry and Sunday brunch. Despite a vibrant start, the Rainbow Revue was short-lived and became the 1100 Club by February 1992.
