Scooters, located in Eau Claire, opened on January 3, 1997, as a sister bar to the nearby Trading Company and was owned by Wayne Marek. The venue had previously operated as two other gay bars: The Back Door and Scruples. In December 1997, new owners Jody Kvapil and Dave Beranek took over. The bar, which held its grand opening in February 1998, has been in continuous operation for over 25 years, making it one of Wisconsin's oldest LGBTQ+ bars.
