The Side Door was a short-lived reincarnation of the legendary River Queen. It opened in June 1976 with a new wood parquet dance floor and a giant TV screen. However, the Side Door's existence was brief and confusing: few customers even noticed the rebranding and many simply continued to call River Queen throughout its controversial lifespan. This was likely more of a diversionary tactic -- due to a lack of proper licensing -- than a legitimate new business. The River Queen name was resurrected in 1978 (with the S.S. River Queen and Riveboat Restaurant.) A year later, the space became Jocks.
