Popular doorman James "Tiny" Kallas vanished from The Factory on April 27, 1979. Eleven days later, his dead body was found stuffed in a manhole at 27th and Brown. Although prosecutors charged two young men, a medical examiner's report suggested Tiny had only been dead for two days. The suspects avoided trial with reduced pleas, leaving the case forever unresolved. Kallas was set to open a new club, Tiny's Waterfront Disco, in the historic River Queen building. Instead, the now-vacant building was destroyed by fire in November 1979 and demolished in May 1980.
INPUT ALWAYS WELCOME!
We are always looking for photos of the exterior and interiors of Bars and other Places, as well as information about ownership, activities and opening and closing background info about Places. We welcome your input and photos!
Note: although actively being developed and already announced at the time of Tiny's death, the Waterfront Disco never actually opened to the public.
