Trading Company, a three-floor bar, was opened by Vern Knox in 1995. The bar expanded by acquiring the adjacent Stage Door Cafe, creating a large after-hours venue. When Knox left in 1996, new owner Wayne Marek took over. Marek later opened Scooters nearby, with the two bars initially advertising as "sister bars." Trading Company closed in 1997 and the space is now occupied by Stone's Throw.
