Club Tropical was a vibrant Latino-owned and operated nightspot that operated in Milwaukee from 2009 to 2012. It was owned by Jose Zarate, his ex-wife, and his daughter, who also owned the ultra-popular La Fuente (1983-2017) restaurant across the street, and managed by Memo Pachuca. Although Tropical was not exclusively a gay bar, the business welcomed all aspects of the Latino community, regularly hosting drag shows, Pride benefits, and HIV/AIDS, outreach events. The nightclub had a long-running partnership with Sixteenth Street Health Clinic. On November 4, 2012, tragedy struck when a customer was beaten to death outside the club. We welcome any available information about this location.
