Zak's Rock and Roll Palace, a live music venue run by Damian Zak, was Milwaukee's first true punk club. It operated from 1975 to 1987. It was known for showcasing local rock, punk, and alternative bands, as well as for its unique entertainment like all-girl Jell-O wrestling and drag shows. After facing licensing issues due to underage drinking, Zak rebranded the club as The Spruce Goose, which featured alcohol-free teen nights. The bar permanently closed in early 1987.
